I have been running BOINC & MilkyWay@Home for about a month with few issues (mostly training issues) on Windows 7 x64 Ultimate. Today, I updated the AMD Catalyst suite from 11.10 to 11.11 and rebooted. Since the update, all of the GPU tasks are failing after 1 second with the message "Computation error". If I re-start the client and processes, I get the same result... About 10 of them fail in rapid succession. All 4 cores banging away blissfully. Please give me some guidance on how to troubleshoot this GPU issue. I'd like to get my GPU back online (without downgrading the driver to 11.10). As an added measure, I installed another ATI project, Collatz Conjecture and it ran about 31 seconds and also got a computation error. I just needed to see if it was Milky Way specific. Also, I found another post that led me to the configuration of logging... I have been running BOINC & MilkyWay@Home for about a month with few issues (mostly training issues) on Windows 7 x64 Ultimate. Today, I updated the AMD Catalyst suite from 11.10 to 11.11 and rebooted. Since the update, all of the GPU tasks are failing after 1 second with the message "Computation error". If I re-start the client and processes, I get the same result... About 10 of them fail in rapid succession. Their help points users to http://boinc.berkeley.edu/help.php so I am in the circular reference here. As noted above, I am having the issue with Collatz, too. Anyways, I removed the latest driver and re-booted and MilkyWay@Home is working again on the GPU (I had already removed Collatz). I think there's an incompatibility with the latest driver and/or Stream SDK that is disrupting things. I suppose I'll wait a while for someone to address it. Alphadon ID: 41191 ·

Milkyway has its own forums, at http://milkyway.cs.rpi.edu/milkyway/forum_index.php Collatz has its own forums, at http://boinc.thesonntags.com/collatz/forum_index.php What we mean with requesting help on these problems at the project, is that you post in the project forums. It's their application that these drivers have a problem with, they will want to know about it. It isn't BOINC that has a problem with the drivers, since your ATI card was detected as normal: 11/16/2011 8:16:35 PM \| \| ATI GPU 0: ATI Radeon HD 4700/4800 (RV740/RV770) (CAL version 1.4.1607, 1024MB, 1256 GFLOPS peak) BOINC doesn't do any of the work, that's the science applications of the projects that do that. So any problem you have with the science applications of the projects is best asked about on that project's forums. Most all projects have forums.
