I did about a 30 minute search so that I wasn't asking the same questions that everyone asks daily, and I think I'm in the clear (hopefully) on this one:

I've been running SETI@home since before it ran through BOINC with no issues. Last week, one of my machines' hard drives blew, so I replaced it with a bigger faster one :D

When I reinstalled BOINC, I was unable to attach to SETI as a project. After trying for 4 days and verifying that the server was back up, I found the old folder and put it in so that my machine would show itself already attached to SETI and just look for another chunk of data. No joy. For days now, it has been just giving me one of two messages:

Either the usual Communication deferred xx:xx:xx amount of time OR BOINC can't access Internet - check network settings or proxy configuration.

I'm guessing it is not a firewall issue or I'd have noticed a problem before, but I'm getting no luck either getting a piece of data or reinstalling BOINC and just trying to attach to SETI or any other project. I've tried Rosetta, Lattice, and Technion.

Any ideas? I even went into my time capsule and tried to port forward 80 and 443 (I never have had to do that before?)

Thanks,
Bob

I should add that Apple updated their router (Airport and Time Capsule) software/firmware around the same time - 1-2 weeks ago, so who knows what new firewall protocols might be in that update that might have "broken" BOINC's/my computer's happy little relationship...
