I have a pair of workstations that have been happily crunching for years running various versions of BOINC.

They were able to upload and download through a proxy server without issue for all this time until I over-installed BOINC 7.0.25.

Now neither will upload or download.

Both report Internet access OK, and I know from using other machines away from the proxy server that the project is online and OK.

I have uninstalled, including removing the data folder in the All Users profile and tried reinstalling 6.12.34 which was what they were running previously, but project communications are still failing.

Has anybody else seen anything similar?

What kind of proxies are you using?
Are you using a client configuration (cc_config.xml) file with any of the following info in it?

I was not using a client configuration file, although I had tried one previously to test connectivity and found nothing useful.

I have been scouring the forums for clues and stumbled across this:-

It seems that I was not alone, although others have not necessarily described their problems in the same way.

Once I injected the newer version of the LIBCURL dll, communication was restored.

I have two PC and the updated libcurl.dll file worked for one of them.
The other one, annoyingly is half-fixed.

TRANSFERS: A dozen transfers for DistributedDataMining, Ralph, Rosetta, SETI stuck at 16.00kB uploaded (except for 1 ralph at 18.28kB and 1 rosetta at 18.30kb) (Why would it allow part of an upload?)
PROJECTS: MilkyWay, Einstein, ABC, malariacontrol, WCG waiting on schedulers but seem to be slowly transferring after several attempts.

ClimatePrediction uploading and downloading quite well after libcurl.dll updated.

BOINC 7.0.25 Program C:\Program Files\BOINC Data F:\ProgramData\BOINC
Windows 7 Home Premium X64 4GB Intel 6300 1.86GHz Nvidia GTX 550 Ti with latest drivers. No proxies.

No improvement by upgrading to 7.0.26.
So I un-installed and re-installed 7.0.26.
Distributed Data Mining uploaded OK, but everything else is as it was.
I unloaded my firewall, but that didn't help.
Any other ideas?

BOINC versions 6.12.34 and 7.0.25 has the issue with HTTP proxy on my two workstations. Version 6.12.33 works just fine.

For an experiment, could you go ahead and reinstall 7.0.26 and use the same log file settings Jord suggested.

The log output below was generated with 7.0.25 using the old version of libcurl.

It would also be helpful to see the log output for the attempt to talk to a project which happens before the attempt to talk to google.

BOINC version 7.0.26 works quite well with HTTP proxy. Thanks!
Is it safe to use this (alpha?) version as a permanent 7.0.25 substitute?

For an experiment, could you go ahead and reinstall 7.0.26 and use the same log file settings Jord suggested.
The log output below was generated with 7.0.25 using the old version of libcurl.
It would also be helpful to see the log output for the attempt to talk to a project which happens before the attempt to talk to google.

I've never used a proxy.

As soon as I re-opened BOINC Manager, Climate Prediction uploaded 4 finished jobs of 7MB each, but later some Climate Prediction trickles timed out. The ralph, rosetta and SETI uploads are still stuck, mostly at 16kB.

Problem solved. My firewall F-Secure 2012 has known issue with one of its components Online Safety. Uninstalling the component made everything better.

Control Panel
Programs > Uninstall a program
Select "F-Secure Launch pad"
Click "Uninstall/Change"
Select "Remove Selected Products" and click "Next >"
Select Online Safety and click "Next >"
etc.
Reboot shouldn't be needed.
