Interested to know the basis for the BOINC statements of PetaFLOPS on the main BOINC web page.

I understand that there is skepticism about the validity of the stated number. So, I would like to know how it is derived. Is BOINC amenable to Linpack evaluation. Linpack seems to be the accepted standard of measurement in supercomputing.

Thanks.

The throughput figures are based on the Whetstone benchmark.
