Just compiled BOINC 7.0.25 (x86) on Debian "Squeeze", all workunits keep running even if I move my mouse or type in keyboard, all settings are set to start working after 1 minute of idle time, set in web preferences and cleared local preferences. Activity menu is set to "Run based on preferences". Have exited BOINC and restarted and still work units keep running, this problem applies to any project of all I have attached. Now, it only stops when I type in a terminal, not gibberish but a true command and pressing the ENTER key after it such as "sudo apt-get clean" (it will keep running until I enter root passwd), and one minute after I stop using the terminal it continues processing. Something has to do with root here maybe??? When launching Boinc Manager it shows "Suspended - Computer is in use" but only for that on minute of idle time. BOINC devs, please respond to this one, I'll gladly help you debug. EDIT: Oh, please don't ask me to download the .sh installer it won't run since dependencies of libnotify and I don't remember which other lib are not met because of version numbers, that's why I compiled it in the first place. How are you running boinc - as a service or from a terminal? CIC1=CC=C(C2=N[C@@H](CC(OC(C)(C)C)=O)C3=NN=C(C)N3C4=C2C(C)=C(C)S4)C=C1 |

It is a long standing problem. I vaguely remember something about differences in whether the mouse and keyboard were PS/2 or USB. Sorry I can't be more helpful, but I can confirm the bug. Kathryn :o) |

@ Trog Dog: Sorry for delay, well I run it kinda like a terminal by autostarting my Gnome session with the command /PATH/TO/BOINC/.boinc Thanks. BTW just compiled 7.0.26 to test but same results. Never tie a ship to a single anchor... Nor life to a single hope. |

I've got the same problem. I'm using various versions I don't get it. I have all my machines set to NOT run while the computer is in use or on batteries. On some like my iMac at work it's perfect, maybe a little pause in there but E@H is a perfect gentleman patiently waiting it's turn. But my Macbook Pro it runs down the batteries and slows down everything. My Ubuntu (11.10) laptop is a proper gentleman but my Ubuntu (11.04) desktop is a hog. I have to go to each of these because they do not all have the same version. I know the iMac that works is Boinc 6.something on Lion and the MacBook is 7.something also Lion. I have to go see what the Ubuntu laptop is running but it's on Ubuntu 11.10. The desktop is 11.04 running 6.12.34. Guess which one I'm typing on. Some do use USB for the input devices but unless it's internal none even have PS2 connectors. I've tried clearing local preferences and updating the project. I uninstalled the downloaded version from the Natty desktop and installing from the Ubuntu repositories. Any clues or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. |
