I'm running BOINC 7.0.25 under Windows XP SP 3
I'm running 3 projects: MilkyWay@Hm, Einstein@Hm & QMC@Hm
Whenever I click on read config file or read local prefs file under the "Advanced" tab - nothing, zip, zero, zilch. I also had this problem under the last version of BOINC I was running 6.34 (I think) I used to be able to read this files under older verions of BOINC.
I wanted to access these files in order to get BOINC to use space on my external HD for its work instead of on Drive C:, which was running out of space. Right now I've corrected the low space problem on Drive C: but I still want to be able to access the config and local pref files.
THANKS in advance for any clues here!

What do you think should happen that does not happen when you click read config file and read local prefs file? I mean what sign should it give you that would tell you it read those files?

Anyway, there is nothing you can put in the cc_config or prefs override files that will cause BOINC client to use a different data directory. Move the data directory over to the other drive then reinstall BOINC. Somewhere during the installation process you will be given the opportunity to specify the path to the data directory. IIRC, you need to click the Advanced button on the third screen but I might be wrong.

As a matter of fact I do live under a bridge. It's a nice bridge. It has free wifi.

Older versions of BOINC actually showed you the config and local prefs when you clicked on them under the advanced tab, but now apparently they don't. I'm embarrassed to admit I just discovered I asked the same question 3 mos ago and got a very detailed response, so re-asking the question was a waste of everyone's time here.
