I would really appreciate any help on the BOINC error message "Couldn't write state file". I have checked directory permissions and they are OK. I have also checked the Help pages and done a Search here, but there is no mention anywhere that I can see of this error.

Has anyone had this error before, and if so, how can it be fixed?

I was running BOINC vers. 6.12.34 and upgraded to 7.0.25 thinking it would fix it, but not such luck. I also went back to the previous version and problem persists. I'm running Windows XP and never had this problem before. The directory tree I checked was: "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\BOINC\" and all files/folders have "A" attributes (which I think means they're not read-only).

Any help will be really welcome!

Thanks in advance,

Just started having the same problem yesterday, and your message is the only item I could find in relation to it. I don't know if you received a reply by email, but here's what I just did. I was going to re-instal the program, but when I did it showed an option to repair. I ran this and everything seems to be working again. I figured I'd post just in case anyone else has this problem.

Good luck.
