I'm running windows 7 64bit using BOINC 7.0.28 and a beta version of 12.7 of the AMD drivers to see if it resolves crashing when running Milkyway@home on the gpu. Though I noticed that a variety of projects are erroneous with the following messages: "<core_client_version>7.0.28</core_client_version> <![CDATA[ <message> couldn't start Can't link app version file: -108 </message> ]]>" This particular message comes from rosetta@home: Task ID 516873034 (http://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/result.php?resultid=516873034) Name T0533_1470.51511985438_t000__1_C1_SAVE_ALL_OUT_IGNORE_THE_REST_51766_854_0 Workunit 470563233 Created 2 Jul 2012 2:42:29 UTC Sent 2 Jul 2012 2:43:43 UTC Received 2 Jul 2012 2:55:13 UTC Server state Over Outcome Client error Client state Compute error Exit status -185 (0xffffffffffffff47) These appeared after upgrading to 12.7 graphics driver. Some tasks complete but many more error out. I am 99% sure its the graphics driver as I rand 12.6 with the current configuration for many weeks already with no errors but for milkyway@home. Thoughts to pinpoint the issue? Is this a BOINC issue or driver issue? GridRepublic - bringing BOINC mainstream: http://www.gridrepublic.org |

Thoughts to pinpoint the issue? Is this a BOINC issue or driver issue? Neither, as far as I can see, since Rosetta doesn't use your AMD GPU. Both error -108 and -185 point toward the (science) application having some form of a problem. Permissions (on the data directory) not in order? Are you running BOINC with the same account you installed it with, or do these errors happen when someone else is logged onto that computer? Have you asked at the project forums what this could be? |
