I could use some help with the update of my Boinc software on my laptop. The desktop installation went smoothly today but suffered similar problems right after the latest version was released. I download the new version, kick-off the installation process, agree to the terms, agree to the default settings, then some time after the installation begins it stops with an error message: "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable." "Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package "BOINC.msi in the box below. That box contains the following path: c:\windows\downloadedinstallations\{7B0EB643-3966-4474-B417-F82930F9DFC8}\ The up;dated software was downloaded to the Downloads folder and was executed from that location. Is it supposed to be somewhere else? Thanks, Jim Thompson |

Have a read of this FAQ. Funny, that. It was only yesterday that I was saying to David Anderson that this was the most frequently asked of all the frequently asked questions. |

I did search for a previous question of this nature. Apparently my criteria were not specific enough as I came up with nothing. |

Thanks for the info. I have already gone through the reinstall (repair) twice and it has not helped so I will move on to another option. Jim |
