When I start using my computer, VirtualBox does not shut down, it just pauses. Is this correct behaviour? In preferences, "While computer is in use" is unticked regards, David Boinc Manager 7.0.28 (x64) wxWidgets Version: 2.8.10 Boinc Manager - Event Log: 21/10/2012 07:37:50 | | No config file found - using defaults 21/10/2012 07:37:50 | | Starting BOINC client version 7.0.28 for windows_x86_64 21/10/2012 07:37:50 | | log flags: file_xfer, sched_ops, task 21/10/2012 07:37:50 | | Libraries: libcurl/7.25.0 OpenSSL/1.0.1 zlib/1.2.6 21/10/2012 07:37:50 | | Data directory: C:\ProgramData\BOINC 21/10/2012 07:37:50 | | Running under account David 21/10/2012 07:37:50 | | Processor: 8 GenuineIntel Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67GHz [Family 6 Model 26 Stepping 4] 21/10/2012 07:37:50 | | Processor: 256.00 KB cache 21/10/2012 07:37:50 | | Processor features: fpu vme de pse tsc msr pae mce cx8 apic sep mtrr pge mca cmov pat pse36 clflush dts acpi mmx fxsr sse sse2 ss htt tm pni ssse3 cx16 sse4_1 sse4_2 syscall nx lm vmx tm2 popcnt pbe 21/10/2012 07:37:50 | | OS: Microsoft Windows 7: Home Premium x64 Edition, Service Pack 1, (06.01.7601.00) 21/10/2012 07:37:50 | | Memory: 12.00 GB physical, 23.99 GB virtual 21/10/2012 07:37:50 | | Disk: 465.66 GB total, 357.45 GB free 21/10/2012 07:37:50 | | Local time is UTC +1 hours 21/10/2012 07:37:50 | | VirtualBox version: 4.1.8 21/10/2012 07:37:50 | | No usable GPUs found 21/10/2012 07:37:50 | rosetta@home | URL http://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/; Computer ID 1468746; resource share 100 21/10/2012 07:37:50 | Test4Theory@Home | URL http://lhcathome2.cern.ch/test4theory/; Computer ID 8666; resource share 100 21/10/2012 07:37:50 | | No general preferences found - using defaults 21/10/2012 07:37:50 | | Reading preferences override file 21/10/2012 07:37:50 | | Preferences: 21/10/2012 07:37:50 | | max memory usage when active: 614.27MB 21/10/2012 07:37:50 | | max memory usage when idle: 9828.39MB 21/10/2012 07:37:50 | | max disk usage: 10.00GB 21/10/2012 07:37:50 | | max CPUs used: 6 21/10/2012 07:37:50 | | don't compute while active 21/10/2012 07:37:50 | | don't use GPU while active 21/10/2012 07:37:50 | | suspend work if non-BOINC CPU load exceeds 15 % 21/10/2012 07:37:50 | | (to change preferences, visit the web site of an attached project, or select Preferences in the Manager) 21/10/2012 07:37:50 | | Not using a proxy 21/10/2012 07:37:50 | | Suspending computation - computer is in use C:\ProgramData\BOINC\global_prefs_override.xml: <global_preferences> <run_on_batteries>0</run_on_batteries> <run_if_user_active>0</run_if_user_active> <run_gpu_if_user_active>0</run_gpu_if_user_active> <idle_time_to_run>30.000000</idle_time_to_run> <suspend_cpu_usage>15.000000</suspend_cpu_usage> <start_hour>0.000000</start_hour> <end_hour>0.000000</end_hour> <net_start_hour>0.000000</net_start_hour> <net_end_hour>0.000000</net_end_hour> <leave_apps_in_memory>0</leave_apps_in_memory> <confirm_before_connecting>0</confirm_before_connecting> <hangup_if_dialed>0</hangup_if_dialed> <dont_verify_images>0</dont_verify_images> <work_buf_min_days>0.100000</work_buf_min_days> <work_buf_additional_days>0.250000</work_buf_additional_days> <max_ncpus_pct>75.000000</max_ncpus_pct> <cpu_scheduling_period_minutes>60.000000</cpu_scheduling_period_minutes> <disk_interval>60.000000</disk_interval> <disk_max_used_gb>10.000000</disk_max_used_gb> <disk_max_used_pct>20.000000</disk_max_used_pct> <disk_min_free_gb>5.000000</disk_min_free_gb> <vm_max_used_pct>35.000000</vm_max_used_pct> <ram_max_used_busy_pct>5.000000</ram_max_used_busy_pct> <ram_max_used_idle_pct>80.000000</ram_max_used_idle_pct> <max_bytes_sec_up>0.000000</max_bytes_sec_up> <max_bytes_sec_down>0.000000</max_bytes_sec_down> <cpu_usage_limit>100.000000</cpu_usage_limit> <daily_xfer_limit_mb>0.000000</daily_xfer_limit_mb> <daily_xfer_period_days>0</daily_xfer_period_days> </global_preferences> |

Sounds normal to me. It will shorten the restart time of the T4T tasks when the system goes back to being idle. Else VB and the whole scientific Linux system on it needs to reboot every time. Do know that VirtualBox isn't part of BOINC, or developed by Berkeley. It's developed by Oracle. It's also only used by T4T so far, so when you find any idiosyncrasies, the people at T4T will want to know and/or can answer it for you. |
