hi, i've got a problem with the current version of the boinc client. it is uploading everytime. that would be ok, if it where just the results of the pojects. but the client is also uploading when there arent any results and i dont know how to stop it. Just closing the client helps, an when i start it again it continues. it is using the my whole upload bandwith of 125kbyte/s and i've got a higher upload then download volume at the end of the day. I hope somebody unterstands my problem and knows how to solve it sry for my bad english, i am german... |

Which projects are you attached to? Which BOINC version is this with? ("Current" can be quite a few different ones) Which firewall do you use? Which operating system? Are you sure you're not seeing the communication between BOINC and BOINC Manager? It's the way that BOINC --the actual client-- updates all the information to the graphical user interface BOINC Manager. This happens on the localhost only, it isn't going out onto any network or the internet. For what happens when you select Activity->Network suspended? Or when you set a maximum quota per day that BOINC can use to upload & download? |

Whatever you are measuring with, very likely the tool is picking up the internal localhost traffic. Run the core client [boinc.exe], without the BOINC Manager [boincmgr.exe], and the *perceived* problem is likely going away. Remedy, exclude monitoring IP 127.0.0.1 which traffic never leaves the PC. |
