Hi! I would like to know if there is any possibility to stop BOINC manager from downloading too many jobs for a specific project, if ressources on the workstation are becoming available. I am asking because of the following behaviour: I am running around 10 BOINC projects. Whenever a job has been done, BOINC manager tries to gets some new jobs from other projects. However, it will then load lots of jobs from the same project. Therefore, my computer will calculate just for one single project for a couple of days (my PC is running maximum 4 hours / day). Because I want to make sure that jobs from every project will be done equally, I would like to forbid BOINC manager to load more than one new job from a specific project. The best case would be, if no new jobs from a specific project will be downloaded, if at least one job from the same project is already waiting for execution. And ideas how to solve this? |

Greetings Rickson and forum readers, I have a similar problem - dealing with the choice of projects Boinc chooses for a WU download. I took your scenario and focused it. Instead of 10 projects, a project for each core - no extra. I have a quad-core cpu with GPUs disabled. So, I should be able to run 4 WU (at once). I chose WCG - 50% - wanted 2 WU LHC - 25% - wanted 1 WU MC - 25% - wanted 1 WU Well. Boinc downloaded 2 WCG and 2 MC (Malaria Control) and never worked on LHC. So. I changed the resource share: WCG - 60% LHC - 35% MC - 05% Still - BOINC downloads two MC WU. This isn't about the time-to-run priority, its about the choice Boinc uses for downloads. environment: 11/19/2012 2:42:01 AM | | Starting BOINC client version 7.0.28 for windows_x86_64 11/19/2012 2:42:01 AM | | log flags: file_xfer, sched_ops, task 11/19/2012 2:42:01 AM | | Libraries: libcurl/7.25.0 OpenSSL/1.0.1 zlib/1.2.6 11/19/2012 2:42:01 AM | | Data directory: C:\ProgramData\BOINC 11/19/2012 2:42:01 AM | | Running under account ####### 11/19/2012 2:42:01 AM | | Processor: 4 AuthenticAMD AMD Phenom(tm) 9550 Quad-Core Processor [Family 16 Model 2 Stepping 3] 11/19/2012 2:42:01 AM | | Processor: 512.00 KB cache 11/19/2012 2:42:01 AM | | Processor features: fpu vme de pse tsc msr pae mce cx8 apic sep mtrr pge mca cmov pat pse36 clflush mmx fxsr sse sse2 htt pni cx16 syscall nx lm svm sse4a osvw ibs page1gb rdtscp 3dnowext 3dnow 11/19/2012 2:42:01 AM | | OS: Microsoft Windows Vista: Home Premium x64 Edition, Service Pack 2, (06.00.6002.00) 11/19/2012 2:42:01 AM | | Memory: 5.75 GB physical, 11.62 GB virtual 11/19/2012 2:42:01 AM | | Disk: 583.02 GB total, 435.93 GB free Any suggestions??
