Can you please make a button to force start the computation? (To override battery level and power source settings.) So it wouldn't be necessary to change global options if i want to start the computations now.

For example, if i have my battery low but the global settings of battery level is 100%, i push "force start" and the computations begin.

BOINC for Android only uses local preferences, no global (online) preferences.

So you can set the "battery slider" to 10% or less for that matter.

I have my BOINC for Android tuned like this:

Power sources:

Wall socket [v]
USB connection [ ]
Wireless charger [ ]
Battery [ ]

Minimum battery level:

80%

These settings are my "everyday" common ones, so i didn't use to change it. The feature i request is to override these settings by pushing the only button "Force start".

The situation where i really need it is for example - i am going to bed in some minutes and my battery is 30%. In this case i now need to change program option "Battery level" to 0% and "power source" to use battery. When i'm in bed, i connect wall charger (as i do every day). In the morning i need to change program settings again in order to have my battery alive until i am near the charger again.

Another case is when i use laptop's or PC's USB charger. It doesn't charge my device fast enough when the computation is in progress. I don't start BOINC on USB charger when i am short of time. But when i have plenty of time i need to change program settings "battery level" and "power source" to start the computation. As you can guess, after that i need to change settings again to have my common ones back.

So this "force start" button could be useful when you try to use BOINC as much as you can, but much more easier without changing any power options.

And btw is it the right place i can write a feature requests?

BOINC for Android is specifically developed with the rapidly dwindling battery in the back of the developer's head, therefore the default setting is that BOINC only runs when the device is on a charger and with a battery volume of 90% or higher.

Adding any button to override this preference immediately is counter-intuitive on devices like this. So for the user to override that default, he'll have to jump through some hoops to get there. Just so he knows all the time that this isn't something that Berkeley likes him to do on this device.

Thanks for that Stephen. I hardly ever went to the group, so just assumed everything was still hunky dory. Could of course have figured something to be wrong as their version is still only 7.4.14
