Hello everyone. Dear BOINC developers, could you please post BOINC on Yandex.Store? http://store.yandex.com/ |

Yandex.Store is an app store for Androidâ„¢ devices. It contains over 100,000 apps. You can pay with your bank card or mobile balance. Why would we want to put the free BOINC app on a store where you have to pay for every app? BOINC is available from the Google Play Store for Android devices, and from the Amazon app store for Kindle Fire. |

No, it's a mistake - there is no need to pay for every app. Same as in Google play, there are free apps: Adobe Reader, Wikipidea, Skype etc. There is even BOINC Echo by Adrian Papari. The presence of BOINC in this store is vital for me because since some time Google Play is not available anymore in my region. Sure you've heard about sanctions against Crimea. But I believe that political limitaintions shouldn't hinder scientific progress (however the projects available for Android are not Crimean or even Russian - just American and European). So now I know that there is a new version for BOINC on Android but I still have 7.4.39. The version available for downlad directly from boinc.berkley.edu is only 7.4.14. That's why I ask you about this - I just want to get my update for more efficient development of world science. |

Hey Mark. You can download from http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dl/. Just press ctrl + f on your internet browser and type: "apk". Also you can use some sites like a http://apkleecher.com type BOINC, and hes give download link for newest BOINC version from Google Play. PS: sorry for my english :) |

The developers have let me know that they are not adding BOINC to Yandex.Store. Apropos, 7.4.39 is the correct version for Android versions up to and including 4.0 7.4.41 is available for Android versions 4.1 and later, and includes support for the "position-independent executable" (PIE) native-mode programs. Some projects have now released PIE based science applications. |

Hello eXzoo. Thanks for the hint - I've just updated to version 7.4.41 with help of apkleecher.com (then I checked http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dl/ and found that version too - should do it first). But I think you agree than it is not the most convenient way to update - using of app stores is much easier beacuse of speed, automation, notifications and absence of advertisements (in case of apkleecher.com and similar sites). So I still would like BOINC team to share their great application via Yandex.Store. P.S. Furthermore it can be a kind of new horizons - some new people may notice BOINC in that store. So they can be interested in it - additional profit for science. |

Well. But can we at least receive some explanation of this policy? I'm using Android 4.1.2. |
